Building My Charlotte: The Queen City and its Architects

Industrial Loan and Investment Bank

The Industrial Loan and Investment Bank is no longer standing; however, it is an example of how Boyer used the Neoclassic style. The facade of the bank is his master creation, completed in the Greek-Revival style, a subcategory of the Neoclassic. The pediment (triangular fixture atop the columns), the columns, and the carved limestones are all ways to detect the Greek-Revival style, usually a style designated to Greek Temples. The renovations conducted by Boyer were made possible because of the booming textile industry in Charlotte during the 1920s. (1)
