Title
Mint Museum of Art
Subject
Non-residential architecture in residential neighborhood
Description
The Mint Museum of Art was Charlotte's first art museum. There is contradicting research stating that Martin Boyer either created the Museum from scratch or gut renovated the institution. The Mint Museum of Art website states that it was the home of the original United States Mint, and then reopened as the Mint Museum of Art. However, it is unclear as to whether Boyer was the original architect or just the renovation architect. Either way, Boyer is credited with designing the building as shown here. It is one of his most famous buildings. Located in Eastover on Randolph, the museum is designed in Neoclassic architecture because of the oversimplified facade and shapes.(1)
